President Message

Dear Mumbai ISAsians,
Greetings!!!

It is with great pride, privilege and humility, I hold the post of President of Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists, Mumbai Metro branch. The society brings the entire community of anaesthesiologists together, on a common platform, with common goals, for knowledge sharing, skill upgradation, research & education, and collaborative endeavours. The members are always enthusiastic to support a cause, bring awareness about anaesthesiologists’ role amongst fellow physicians & society, conduct CPR workshops for medics, paramedics & public. Thus, we engage with the community through outreach programs that highlight our contributions to patient care. Excellence in delivering patient care & enhancing patient safety are two most followed objectives of the society and are propagated with simulation workshops & non-technical skills workshops.

I incur deep sense of responsibility, looking back at the journey of this dynamic organization. The incredible foundations of our national society were forged in this very city of Mumbai. On 16th October, 1946, at the centenary celebration of ‘Ether Anaesthesia’ Dr. Moksha Madan Desai, Dr. B. N. Sircar and Dr. Talwalkar conceived the idea of ISA. Thus, Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists was born in 1947, at Dean’s chamber, Seth GS Medical Collage & KEM Hospital, Mumbai. Today, Mumbai branch has highest number of members amongst all metro cities, holds monthly CMEs, biennial 2 days conference involving national & international speakers, along with pre conference hands on workshops. Webinars on recent updates and guidelines in anaesthesia are regularly held. Paper & poster presentation competitions for post graduate students are also conducted regularly to encourage new research & techniques, and novices to showcase their work & enhance presentation skills.

With our shared commitment to science, service & humanity, we strive to uplift the standards of our practice, bring more fulfilment & rewarding experiences to every anaesthesiologist. The challenges may be many, but with teamwork, dedication, and clarity, I am certain that we will continue to make a meaningful difference in the practice of anaesthesia.

Long Live ISA !!!
